Fibonacci Series generates subsequent number by adding two previous numbers. Fibonacci series starts from two numbers − F 0 & F 1. The initial values of F 0 & F 1 can be taken 0, 1 or 1, 1 respectively. Time Complexity: T(n) = T(n-1) + T(n-2) which is exponential. We can observe that this implementation does a lot of repeated work (see the following recursion tree). So this is a bad implementation for nth Fibonacci number.
The first few numbers of the series are 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, ..., except for the first two terms of the sequence, every other is the sum of the previous two, for example, 8 = 3 + 5 (sum of 3 and 5).

The recursive method is less efficient as it involves repeated function calls that may lead to stack overflow while calculating larger terms of the series.
