As part of the EU HIRMEOS project, Göttingen University Press has set itself the goal of integrating new services on its platform. From now on you can use the annotation tool of hypothes.is for all our publications by annotating our digital monographs in your own browser and saving the annotations for yourself or for the public.
Use your cursor to select the text you want to highlight. If you are looking highlight a large area of text, you also have the option of using the 'Area Highlight' button. If you want to change the highlight color, right-click on the highlighted text and select 'Properties', then the 'Properties' window will be appeared on the right. hypothes.is is a widely used annotation system used by several scientific publishers: Johns Hopkins University Press, University of Michigan Publishing, University of California Press and Ubiquity Press have already integrated the Hypothes.is tool into their platforms.
How to use the hypothes.is tool with our publications
To annotate a publication of Göttingen University Press, you will find on the website of each publication the link View Document together with the black hypothes.is symbol (). A red symbol () indicates that annotations have already been created for this publication. By clicking you will be redirected to a PDF viewer where the hypothes.is tool is integrated.
In the tab Details you can download all annotations realized so far for a certain publication in csv format:
To post a comment, click the right arrow button and sign in with your existing hypothes.is account or create an account. To create an account, you must enter an account name and a valid email address. Use of the service is free of charge. Once logged in, you can annotate, highlight text passages, reply to existing public annotations, and more. You can either create private notes for yourself or make your comments readable for others. To start group discussions, you can set up a private group in which you can only exchange comments within that group.
