The pattern of variation during a continuous production lot can be used to identify (or eliminate) specific assignable causes depending on the time scale involved. This webinar will review the more common assignable causes of within-lot variability as well as lot-to-lot reproducibility. We also review patterns of defects in terms of location/orientation to identify potential sources; are the black specs only on the outer die holes? are the voids in the pellets randomly distributed – or are they always aligned in the center? These types of questions will help to define the root cause(s) of such problems.

K stands for “What do I know,” F stands for “What do I need to Find,” C stands for “Come up with a plan” which includes 2 parts: the operation (+, -, x, and /) and the problem-solving strategy, and lastly, the S stands for “solve the problem” (which includes all the work that is involved in solving. One of the best problem solving strategies is to create a safe space for a group to share and discover practices, behaviors, and problem solving techniques that can help them find more effective solutions, often without needing massive organizational change or additional resources. Problem-Solving Strategies is a unique collection of competition problems from over twenty major national and international mathematical competitions for high school students. The discussion of problem solving strategies is extensive.
